Deliver students with dyslexia accessible reading experiences

Deliver Students with dyslexia accessible required reading titles, textbooks and educational materials using CELA and the EasyReader app.

Open a world of accessible books for students who are neurodiverse using the EasyReader app and CELA. Jessica Desormeaux from the Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) will talk about CELA and the collections and services offered to students and educators. Then, MJ Barry from Dolphin will demonstrate how students and educators can explore required reading books, textbooks through Bookshare titles in CELA’s collection and leisure reading materials. Explore how to use the EasyReader app to read audio and e-text books, including educational-related materials using the free EasyReader app and EasyReader Premium service. Envoy Connect: A new accessible and affordable audiobook player

In May 2023, CELA launched our new service, which uses the new Envoy Connect audiobook player to read books in CELA’s collection. This webinar provides a basic introduction to the Envoy Connect player, a portable, affordable and easy-to-use device. This webinar is for anyone who prefers listening to audiobooks using self-contained players with a tactile interface, rather than through computers, smart phones or tablets. This webinar was recorded in October 2023.

Accessing CELA Library using VoiceOver with the free Dolphin EasyReader app

Want to start getting books from CELA Library and be able to read those books with voice support on your Apple phone or tablet? If the answer is yes, this session is just for you! Susan Vida, Technical Support Specialist for CELA, demonstrates how she uses VoiceOver with EasyReader. She’ll demonstrate how to get the app, sign in, find and listen to books. Susan will also provide some tips on navigating the layout of the app. As a person who uses the app with VoiceOver herself and fields incoming support calls for CELA Library by people using EasyReader, she has some great knowledge and advice to share with you! Accessible reading in the digital age: Finding the right tech that works for you

This webinar gives you an overview of digital tech tools for accessible reading with a print disability. Our Peer Trainers for our Expanded Delivery Options Project will share their expertise as persons with lived experience regarding strategies and tips that have helped them navigate print materials. They will demonstrate different devices such as mobile phones, adaptive computer software and braille displays, within the context of using different mainstream book providers like Amazon and Audible, as well as specialized institutions like CELA and Bookshare. This webinar is for those who are new to print disabilities, whether you are living with one, or know somebody who is, and service providers who are interested in learning about accessibility.
