Résumé
From 1947 to 1949, the Canadian government reluctantly allowed 1,123 children, survivors of the Holocaust, into the country. Drawing on archival materials, memoirs, interviews and diaries, it describes how these young people, though traumatized by their war-time experiences, flourished in… the care of their community and became productive citizens. Their stories also may hold lessons for current Canadian immigration policy.
