‘n Dreigende brand noop ‘n sekuriteitswag om te kies om óf homself óf ‘n vyfjarige kind te red. Hulle staan bekend as die “troepe” – die beamptes in uniform van Justice Sekuriteit. Hulle het nie die gemaklike, hoogs gepubliseerde poste… wat die ander personeellede, in gewone kleredrag het nie – hulle is die mense wat in die agtergrond daagliks gesien kan word by banke, kantoorgeboue, en kleinhandelbesighede, waar hulle ‘n veilige omgewing vir kliënte en werkers skep. Gus Brazzle is een van daardie troepe. Hy is aangestel by ‘n winkel wat handel in tweedehandse boeke, musiek en flieks. Gus is omtrent aangeheg aan die personeel van die winkel, en dink aan hulle as sy familie. Hy het selfs die bynaam “Teddiebeer” gekry, van die vyfjarige dogter van een van die winkel se personeel. Maar, wanneer ‘n ontevrede kliënt, wat voel hy is te na gekom, besluit om wraak te neem, word dinge dodelik. Gus het ‘n keuse om te maak … maar sal hy dit betyds kan maak?
