Follows the two-hundred-fifty-year history of a family through the lives of six teenagers. The story begins in 1753 when Muhammad Bilal is brought to the states as a slave and begins work on Curry Island, South Carolina. The story continues… with Lizzy in 1864, Elijah in 1900, Luvenia in 1930, Tommy in 1964, and finally Malcolm in 1994, as each does her or his part to sustain the eight acres of land the family calls the Glory Field.
