Complex Head and Neck Microvascular Surgery: Comprehensive Management and Perioperative Care
Par Rui Fernandes, Anastasiya Quimby, Sat Parmar. 2023
Head and neck patients who undergo treatment with free tissue transfer are patients with some of the most complex perioperative…
needs. Due to nature of the defects, reconstructive surgery is complex and often is the only available option offering an acceptable quality of life. Therefore, successful recovery of these patients is of paramount importance. Whilst the surgery itself is of utmost importance, insufficient or inappropriate pre-surgical work up and post-operative care may lead to reconstructive failures. Secondary reconstruction offers less optimal functional outcomes and may add to patient morbidity due to additional surgeries being required. This book serves as a comprehensive source of information related to the pre-, intra- and postoperative care of head and neck patients. It fills a critical need for a single source that addresses all aspects of perioperative management of head and neck patients.Rekonstruktive Kopf-Hals-Chirurgie

Par Stephen H White, Gunnar Von Heijne, Donald M Engelman. 2022
The central themes of Cell Boundaries concern the structural and organizational principles underlying cell membranes, and how these principles enable…
function. By building a biological and biophysical foundation for understanding the organization of lipids in bilayers and the folding, assembly, stability, and function of membrane proteins, the book aims to broaden the knowledge of bioscience students to include the basic physics and physical chemistry that inform us about membranes. In doing so, it is hoped that physics students will find familiar territory that will lead them to an interest in biology. Our progress toward understanding membranes and membrane proteins depends strongly upon the concerted use of both biology and physics. It is important for students to know not only what we know, but how we have come to know it, so Cell Boundaries endeavours to bring out the history behind the central discoveries, especially in the early chapters, where the foundation is laid for later chapters. Science is far more interesting if, as students, we can appreciate and share in the adventures—and misadventures—of discovering new scientific knowledge. Cell Boundaries was written with advanced undergraduates and beginning graduate students in the biological and physical sciences in mind, though this textbook will likely have appeal to researchers and other academics as well. Highlights the history of important central discoveries Early chapters lay the foundation for later chapters to build on, so knowledge is amassed High-quality line diagrams illustrate key concepts and illuminate molecular mechanisms Box features and spreads expand on topics in main text, including histories of discoveries, special techniques, and applicationsCurrent play therapy resources offer details on how to conduct play therapy, but are limited in addressing the challenges that…

Par C. Raymond Lake. 2023
This unique book is needed because it aims to improve the care of Bipolar clients while strengthening the clinical practices…
of non-MD psychotherapists. What is different is the proposal that psychotherapists manage the overall care of Bipolar clients. The increased number of publications about Bipolar over the past decades has enhanced the recognition of Bipolar. As many as 16 million individuals in the US may have a Bipolar episode at some point.Psychiatrists have traditionally managed Bipolar clients but there are not enough psychiatrists and they generally spend only 10 to 15 minutes every one to six months with their clients—often not enough time to recognize oncoming Bipolar episodes. Therapeutic strategy has changed from treating acute episodes to postponing next episodes. Psychotherapists see their clients for 50 minutes every week and are in a better position to recognize developing episodes. Psychotherapists do not prescribe and medicines are usually needed along with psychotherapy for best results. This book encourages psychotherapists to vet and collaborate with prescribers in caring for the therapists’ Bipolar clients.Lacking in the psychotherapists’ armamentarium for treating Bipolar clients is education regarding diagnostic signs, symptoms, and treatment including the most productive medications. This book provides therapists and clients the needed information and encourages academic departments and other psychotherapy programs to institute training about Bipolar Disorders.Shaping High Quality, Affordable and Equitable Healthcare: Meaningful Innovation and System Transformation (Organizational Behaviour in Healthcare)

termed "lean production" that is spreading the globe. Characterized by knowledge work, lean production also includes the mass customization of commodities to consumer desires, and the close cooperation of firms within extended networks of production and distribution. Its proponents argue that it can unite companies, workers, and consumers in the harmonious pursuit of common interests, thereby making the Marxian perspective hopelessly outdated. However, this book is the first to defend Marxian political economy against the claims made by lean production advocates.Management im Gesundheitswesen: Fallstudien, Aufgaben und Lösungen

This book explores the connection between melodrama and medicine from multiple perspectives. Neuroscientists study the relationship between opera and brain…
functioning in the light of new findings in the fields of neurophysiology, neuroimaging, cognitive science and neuro-musicology; clinicians investigate the therapeutic potential of music, especially in the field of treatment and rehabilitation of individuals with neurodegenerative diseases; medical historians analyse the representation of diseases and those who cure diseases within operas; occupational doctors report descriptions of diseases that affect workers in the opera world and particularly focus on psychiatric and psychological alterations. Opera, with its instrumental and vocal accompaniment, is considered the most complete form of theatrical performance. However, little is known about the mechanisms of brain activity under the influence of melodrama on singers, musicians, and listeners. The use of neuroimaging techniques has enabled a better understanding of the neuronal mechanisms and circuits involved during an opera performance. Over the past 20 years, melodrama has increasingly been used as a therapeutic approach in various neurological and neuropsychiatric pathologies, such as depression, cognitive impairment, and even coma. The book also discusses the ways in which melodrama affects professionals involved in music and interventions to reduce or alleviate occupational diseases, leading to improved health and higher life satisfaction. The ultimate goal is to improve therapeutic interventions in neurological diseases and professional disorders, relying on solid neuroscientific data. This book will be of great interest to neurologists, neurobiologists, psychiatrists, occupational doctors and therapists in music.
