Sustainable Architectural Design: An Overview
Par Kuppaswamy Iyengar. 2015
This book is a guide to a sustainable design process that moves from theory, to site and energy use, to…
building systems, and finally to evaluation and case studies, so you can integrate design and technology for effective sustainable building. Kuppaswamy Iyengar shows you how to get it right the first time, use free energy systems, and utilise technologies that minimize fossil fuel use. Each chapter has a sustainable design overview, technical details and strategies marked by clear sections, a summary, and further resources. Heavily illustrated with charts, tables, drawings, photographs, and case studies, the book shows technologies and concepts integrated into cohesive project types, from small and large office spaces to single and multiuse residences, hospitals, schools, restaurants, and warehouses to demonstrate implementing your designs to meet clients' needs now and for the future. Includes an overview of alternate assessment and evaluation systems such as BREEAM, CASBEE, GBTool, Green Globes alongside LEED, ECOTECT, energy 10, HEED and eQuest simulation programs. The guide reveals the importance of the building envelope—walls, superstructure, insulation, windows, floors, roofs, and building materials—on the environmental impact of a building, and has a section on site systems examining site selection, landscape design, thermal impact, and building placement.A Companion to Shakespeare

Topics covered include the organization and regulation of Elizabethan playing, printing, and publication; the circulation of the play-texts: Shakespeare's reading; religion and political thought in England in late Elizabethan and Jacobean England: and the linguistic and literary environment in which he wrote. The Ultimate Muffin Book

Par W. J. T. Mitchell. 2005
According to W. J. T. Mitchell, we need to reckon with images not just as inert objects that convey meaning…
but as animated beings with desires, needs, appetites, demands, and drives of their own.Rebecca Lando was sick of survival eating. The sight of boxed mac 'n' cheese and ramen noodles curdled her appetite,…
but her meager paycheck severely limited her options. Creative cooking led to what's now a popular weekly web series chronicling her adventures in making delicious cheap meals -- with the best local and seasonal ingredients. In The Working Class Foodies' Cookbook, Rebecca's mission is to share tasty, affordable recipes and invaluable advice for the home cook, including how to stock a $40, $60, and $100 pantry; which organic items are okay to skip; and why making your own stock, ketchup, and even Pop-Tarts is good for your body and your wallet. Many people think that the real food movement is only for the wealthy, but Rebecca's delicious recipes -- including red-skinned potatoes coated in chives and butter for under $2, sweet potato gnocchi for under $5, and a chicken roast for under $8 -- show readers the way to eating better and more cheaply. Starving students, working parents, and fixed-income retirees alike will eat up Rebecca's message, because real people deserve real food, real cheap! .Take-2: 50 Films That Deserve a New Audience
Par Deepa Gahlot. 2015
An essential resource for scholars, connoisseurs and serious fans of Indian cinema, Take-2 makes for an entertaining, informative and nostalgia-filled…
read In the last few years there has been a glut of books on Indian cinema but most of them focus on the life and times of famous stars or celebrate popular film classics. Even though information and film trivia are now easier to access than ever before, some films have completely disappeared with not even a single print available due to reasons both tragic and strange. Also lost in time are some filmmakers and actors who once added their bit to the history of Indian cinema but have now simply vanished from our collective memory. In Take-2, Deepa Gahlot reacquaints or introduces us to 50 films (and many artistes) that merit our attention. While some on this list were chosen because they were the first Indian films of their kind, or were obscure films by well-known directors, others deserve mention because they were by creative talents whose contribution to Hindi cinema has been overlooked. Gahlot’s mission to rescue and preserve these forgotten gems should inspire us to go back and take another look.Dean Worcester’s Fantasy Islands brings to life one of the most significant (but under examined) figures in the history of U.…
S. colonialism in the Philippines. Upon the outbreak of the Spanish-American War, Worcester, a scientist who had traveled twice to the Philippines on zoological expeditions, established himself as one of America’s leading experts on the Philippines. Over a fourteen-year career as a member of the U. S. colonial regime, Worcester devoted much of his time and energy to traveling among and photographing non-Christian minority groups in the Philippines. He amassed an archive of several thousand photographs taken by him or by government photographers. Worcester deployed those photographs in books, magazine articles, and lectures to promote his belief that the United States should maintain control of the Philippines for decades to come. While many historians have examined American colonial photography in the Philippines, this book is the first lengthy treatment of Worcester’s role in shaping American perceptions of the Philippines in the early twentieth century. The Wedding Photography Field Guide: Capturing The Perfect Day With Your Digital Slr (Field Guide Ser.)

funeral—that you won an Emmy once, or that you were a good person, kind and generous? Well, as for me, I hope it's the latter. And the fact that I recently commissioned an Emmy-shaped coffin just eliminates the need for anyone to bring it up. ” Everybody knows that Patricia Heaton plays the hilarious, wise, and tempestuous married-with-kids everywoman onEverybody Loves Raymond. What they might not know is that in real life she is married, has four boys under eight years old, and is just as funny offscreen as on. Motherhood and Hollywoodis Patricia Heaton’s humorous and poignant collection of essays on life, love, marriage, child-rearing, show business, having parents, being a parent, spousal rage, surviving fame, success, and the shame of underarm flab. She is warm, witty, and refreshingly irreverent. Heaton grew up in suburban Cleveland, one of five children of devout Roman Catholic parents. Her father was a noted sportswriter forThe Plain Dealer; her mother died suddenly and unexpectedly when Heaton was twelve. Love, fast food, and an unflagging sense of humor held the clan together and propelled Patricia on a showbiz career that began with hilariously nightmarish struggles in New York, eventually leading to a triumphant move to Los Angeles. InMotherhood and Hollywood, Patricia Heaton pours out her heart and minces no words. She’s taking all prisoners for cookies and a glass of Jack Daniel’s and diet ginger ale. Laughter ensues.Faça seus próprios condimentos - Receitas fabulosas, sabores frescos e estilo de vida saudável
