But also attention was given to the use of RNAi as a spray (non-transgenic plant approach) or tree-injection. Examples include the control of Colorado potato beetle and treatment of citrus trees to control Asian citrus psyllid. Additionally, the aspect of biosafety and risk assessment were also covered in the book with input from the bioinformatics and risk assessment testing, combined with regulatory input from EPA-USA and EFSA-EU. In summary, the editors believe that this book provides for the first time an invaluable vast source of basic and applied information for a plethora of scientists in academia, industry, and regulatory, as well as a textbook for graduate and advanced undergraduate students.

Internet shutdowns have been found to be more prevalent in developing countries than in developed countries, with India leading in Internet shutdowns in the world. Internet shutdowns have occurred in India for several reasons, mainly to hinder the spreading of information through social media – this is discussed in detail along with political motives behind this and how this can conflict with government policies, such as the flagship program “Digital India” which is ostensibly meant to improve the infrastructure and expansion of digital information throughout the country. This book suggests new dimensions in the digital spatiality. Furthermore, the digital space is defined and discussed, including its role and how this might be reflected in concepts around spatiality and spaces. More concretely, the book considers the following questions: How is social media reflected in spatial sciences? How does the space differ from more tangible spaces, such as the hydrosphere or atmosphere? How do (computer/mobile phone) screens behave as a space/place in the context of behavioural sciences? How is this reflected in what is shaping and reshaping the spatiality of digital gadgets? Do digital gadgets change the socialization process that’s often considered a path towards how we develop in society? einen entwickelt, das Selbstverantwortungs-Inventar (SVI).[1] Das SVI besteht aus den drei Unterskalen Fremdbestimmung, Selbstbestimmung sowie Orientierung an den Erwartungen anderer. Fremdbestimmung ist der Eindruck einer Person, dass andere Menschen mehr Einfluss auf ihr eigenes Leben haben als sie selbst (Beispiel: „Andere sind an meinem Unglück schuld“. Selbstbestimmung ist eine unabhängige und selbstbewusste Haltung („Ich bestimme selbst, was ich tue oder lasse“). Orientierung an den Erwartungen anderer ist der Wunsch, die Erwartungen anderer Menschen zu erfüllen, und die Angst, Fehler zu machen oder zurechtgewiesen zu werden („Ich habe oft ein schlechtes Gewissen, wenn ich jemandem eine Bitte abschlage“). Ich habe das SVI bei mehreren wissenschaftlichen Untersuchungen an gesunden Erwachsenen eingesetzt; dabei zeigten sich ziemlich genau die Zusammenhänge, die ich weiter oben beschrieben habe. Je ausgeprägter die Selbstverantwortung – das heißt, je weniger Fremdbestimmung, je mehr Selbstbestimmung und je weniger Orientierung an den Erwartungen anderer –, desto größer die Zufriedenheit in praktisch allen Bereichen des eigenen Lebens (z.B. Ehe bzw. Partnerschaft, eigene Person, Gesundheit, Sexualität). Obwohl es sich hier um Menschen ohne psychische Störungen handelt, wurde auch nach Depressivität und Ängstlichkeit gefragt, mit dem gleichen Ergebnis: Je ausgeprägter die Selbstverantwortung, desto geringer Depressivität und Ängstlichkeit.
