Par Johannes P. Schlöder, Rolf Rannacher, Stefan Körkel, Thomas Carraro, Willi Jäger, Hans Georg Bock. 2013
This judicious selection of articles combines mathematical and numerical methods to apply parameter estimation and optimum experimental design in a…
range of contexts. These include fields as diverse as biology, medicine, chemistry, environmental physics, image processing and computer vision. The material chosen was presented at a multidisciplinary workshop on parameter estimation held in 2009 in Heidelberg. The contributions show how indispensable efficient methods of applied mathematics and computer-based modeling can be to enhancing the quality of interdisciplinary research. The use of scientific computing to model, simulate, and optimize complex processes has become a standard methodology in many scientific fields, as well as in industry. Demonstrating that the use of state-of-the-art optimization techniques in a number of research areas has much potential for improvement, this book provides advanced numerical methods and the very latest results for the applications under consideration.Statics and Rotational Dynamics of Composite Beams
Par Mehrdaad Ghorashi. 2016
This book presents a comprehensive study of the nonlinear statics and dynamics of composite beams and consists of solutions with…
and without active elements embedded in the beams. The static solution provides the initial conditions for the dynamic analysis. The dynamic problems considered include the analyses of clamped (hingeless) and articulated (hinged) accelerating rotating beams. Two independent numerical solutions for the steady state and the transient responses are presented. The author illustrates that the transient solution of the nonlinear formulation of accelerating rotating beam converges to the steady state solution obtained by the shooting method. Other key areas considered include calculation of the effect of perturbing the steady state solution, coupled nonlinear flap-lag dynamics of a rotating articulated beam with hinge offset and aerodynamic damping, and static and dynamic responses of nonlinear composite beams with embedded anisotropic piezo-composite actuators. The book is intended as a thorough study of nonlinear elasticity of slender beams and is targeted to researchers, graduate students, and practicing engineers in the fields of structural dynamics, aerospace structures, and mechanical engineering.Languages, Design Methods, and Tools for Electronic System Design

Par Bertil Gustafsson. 2010
The book of nature is written in the language of mathematics -- Galileo Galilei How is it possible to predict…
weather patterns for tomorrow, with access solely to today's weather data? And how is it possible to predict the aerodynamic behavior of an aircraft that has yet to be built? The answer is computer simulations based on mathematical models - sets of equations - that describe the underlying physical properties. However, these equations are usually much too complicated to solve, either by the smartest mathematician or the largest supercomputer. This problem is overcome by constructing an approximation: a numerical model with a simpler structure can be translated into a program that tells the computer how to carry out the simulation. This book conveys the fundamentals of mathematical models, numerical methods and algorithms. Opening with a tutorial on mathematical models and analysis, it proceeds to introduce the most important classes of numerical methods, with finite element, finite difference and spectral methods as central tools. The concluding section describes applications in physics and engineering, including wave propagation, heat conduction and fluid dynamics. Also covered are the principles of computers and programming, including MATLAB®.FPGAs for Software Programmers

approaches (e. g. ,OpenCL and several C-to-gates compilers). It introduces FPGA technology, itsprogramming model, and how various applications can be implemented on FPGAswithout going through low-level hardware design phases. Readers will get arealistic sense for problems that are suited for FPGAs and how to implementthem from a software designer's point of view. The authors demonstrate that FPGAs and their programming model reflectthe needs of stream processing problems much better than traditional CPU or GPUarchitectures, making them well-suited for a wide variety of systems, fromembedded systems performing sensor processing to large setups for Big Datanumber crunching. This book serves as aninvaluable tool for software designers and FPGA design engineers who are interestedin high design productivity through behavioural synthesis, domain-specificcompilation, and FPGA overlays. Introduces FPGA technology to softwaredevelopers by giving an overview of FPGA programming models and design tools,as well as various application examples; Provides a holistic analysis of the topic andenables developers to tackle the architectural needs for Big Data processingwith FPGAs; Explains the reasons for the energy efficiencyand performance benefits of FPGA processing; Provides a user-orientedapproach and a sense for where and how to apply FPGA technology.Computer Forensics For Dummies

Design a robust BGP control plane within a secure, scalable network for smoother services A robust Border Gateway Protocol setup…
is vital to ensuring reliable connectivity, an essential capability for any organization. The Internet has become a necessary, always-on service in homes and businesses, and BGP is the protocol that keeps communication flowing. But BGP also has become crucial to delivery of intra-domain business services. But the network is only as reliable as BGP, so service enablement depends upon making BGP more stable, reliable, and service-rich. Alcatel-Lucent Service Router Operating System is engineered to bear the load of the most demanding networks. The system features support for Symmetric Multiprocessing and unprecedented depth of advanced routing features, all within a single OS that's supported across the entire Alcatel-Lucent IP/MPLS router portfolio. Versatile Routing and Services with BGP provides guidance toward implementation of BGP within SR-OS, and details the use and control of each feature. The book provides in-depth coverage of topics such as: BGP/MPLS IP-VPN, VPLS, VPWS Labeled Unicast IPv4, reconvergence, and multicast Security, graceful restart and error handling IPv6 PE (6PE) and IPv6 extensions to BGP/MPLS IP-VPN A look at forthcoming features such as Ethernet VPN Basic BGP competency is assumed, but the book is accessible even to those with zero familiarity with Alcatel-Lucent's SR-OS. It underscores the idea that BGP is more than just service enablement, and can also be used for infrastructure layer transport - but both layers must be solid, scalable, and able to quickly reconverge. Versatile Routing and Services with BGP demonstrates the creation of a robust BGP control plane within a, secure network, allowing the delivery of flawless, uninterrupted service.iOS App Development For Dummies
