All parts of the body need exercise for optimal health, and the eyes are no different. Vision for Life presents…
an approach to eye health for people with 20/20 vision who wish to maintain their perfect vision as well as people who see poorly and would like to improve their eyesight. Clients of the Meir Schneider Self-Healing Method experience their own capacity to bring about recovery, reversing the progress of a wide range of degenerative conditions including eye disease. Based in part on the established Bates Method of eyesight improvement and in part on his own professional and personal discoveries, Meir Schneider's pioneering approach has helped thousands of people successfully treat a host of eye problems, including near- and farsightedness, astigmatism, lazy eye, double vision, glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, retinitis pigmentosa, and nystagmus. This revised edition includes a new chapter on children's eye health and new research and exercises for specific conditions, i.e., glaucoma and nystagmus, near- and farsightedness. Born blind to deaf parents, Schneider underwent a series of painful operations as a young child and was left with 99 percent scar tissue on the lenses of his eyes, resulting in his being declared incurably blind. At the age of seventeen, he discovered how to improve his vision from less than 1 percent to 55 percent of normal vision with the eye exercises presented in this book. Today Schneider drives a car, reads, and enjoys the benefits of full natural vision. He and his clients prove time and time again how much vision can improve with exercise. His contributions to the field of self-healing are recognized by alternative health practitioners and medical doctors alike. In Vision for Life, Schneider shares forty years of discoveries made on his personal and professional journey. The book details simple but effective techniques to gain great vision such as sunning and palming. Such exercises are not only strengthening but also restorative and deeply relaxing. The reader learns how to reverse developing issues before they cause damage or to remedy existing problems, including pathologies such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, and optic nerve neuropathy. From the Trade Paperback edition.Par John R. This book is the first to summarize the current knowledge of the cell biology of lens epithelial cells in relation…
to and in the development of posterior capsular opacification (PCO). PCO remains the most common long-term complication of modern cataract surgery, occurring months or years after cataract surgery, unlike most other complications that tend to arise during or soon after the procedure. Opacification of the posterior capsule appears to be linked to lens epithelial cells that are left behind in the eye during cataract removal. These cells proliferate, migrate across the posterior lens capsule, and undergo changes that result in fibrous or pearl-type opacities in the capsule. The first section of the text explains the molecular mechanism and biology of lens epithelial cells that lead to the incidence of PCO. In the second part, in addition to a description of the mechanism and pathological condition of PCO, surgical methods and devices for preventing PCO are discussed in detail. Lens Epithelium and Capsular Opacification will benefit not only young clinical residents and junior researchers, but also established faculty in the clinical or basic academic field.Par Ulrich Spandau, Heinrich Heimann. 2011

This clinically oriented book is the first to be devoted wholly to the diagnosis and treatment of vitreo-macular interface disease,…
characterized by a combination of vitreo-macular adhesion (VMA) and vitreo-macular traction (VMT) that is implicated in a variety of disorders. World-renowned experts in the field discuss epidemiologic, anatomic, and physiologic aspects, document the findings obtained with newer imaging techniques, such as spectral domain optical coherence tomography, describe the treatment options, and report on the results of preclinical and clinical trials, including some previously unpublished findings. This book will prove invaluable for ophthalmologists as we advance toward a future in which treatments of diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy will likely require adjunctive therapy to tackle VMA/VMT concurrently.Par Sandra Johnson. 2009

Vision therapy techniques can correct not only visual problems, but also cognitive, emotional and physical difficulties. Based on the pioneering…
work of Dr Melvin Kaplan, this research-based book explains the basis of vision therapy, who it can help, and the outcomes it can bring. Visual perceptual problems can cause an array of difficulties, from reading and writing, to issues with balance, clumsiness, and tunnel vision. Severe symptoms can lead to a diagnosis of anxiety, depression, learning disability or even autism. In this groundbreaking book, Dr Kaplan shows how these symptoms point to interventions that change the way that the eyes process information, permanently counteracting visual deficits and impacting on behaviour. Case studies demonstrate how to plan and implement visual management programs according to a patient's symptoms, illustrating the wide range of life-changing results that vision therapy can achieve for people of all ages, regardless of severity of symptoms. Dr Kaplan also shares his expert knowledge of ambient yoked prisms - a tool that transforms light to alter visual stimulation, dramatically transforming perception and cognition. This accessible book presents readers - including parents and families, clinicians, and other professionals working with individuals with visual perception problems - with a comprehensive introduction to the benefits and methods of vision therapy.Par Christoph Faschinger, Anton Hommer. 2011

PED a frequently seen feature in various diseases of the eye Introductory chapters discuss the anatomy pathophysiology and imaging of PEDs highlighting how especially the increasing use of spectral domain OCT enables even small PEDs to be detected and followed over time The diverse forms of PED are then described with explanation of how they may hint at the underlying pathology or even be pathognomonic when considered in conjunction with other clinical features New insights are provided into the characteristics of the various forms of PED and predictors of complications - such as rip of the PED - are discussed It is clearly explained how knowledge of the different types of PED and their underlying diseases can assist in creating an appropriate individualized follow-up and therapy scheme for each patientPar Jyrki Juurmaa. 1967
Psychological testing of the ability structures of the blind and sighted was commenced almost simultaneously during the first decades of…
this century. However, a majority of the studies concerning the blind, and the most crucial among them, sought to develop IQ-type test batteries, intended mainly for appraising their school achievement. By contrast, systematic studies have not been carried out to explore the relationships among different, mutually relatively independent traits and the quantitative contributions of such traits to different test performances. This lack of interest is perhaps due to the narrow range of occupations regarded as suitable for the blind: there has been no acute need for a more differentiated picture.Par Ian L Bailey, Amanda Hall. 1990
